1. St. Mark’s Basilica & Square – Admire the stunning Italo-Byzantine architecture of St. Mark’s Basilica and soak in the lively atmosphere of Piazza San Marco.
2. Doge’s Palace & the Bridge of Sighs – Explore the lavish Doge’s Palace and walk across the famous Bridge of Sighs, which once led prisoners to their cells.
3. Gondola Ride through the Canals – Not a cheap excursion at 90 euros however a classic Venice experience! Glide through hidden canals for a romantic and peaceful view of the city.
4. Rialto Bridge & Market – Visit the iconic Rialto Bridge for postcard-worthy views and explore the nearby market for fresh produce and Venetian goods.
5. Murano & Burano Islands – Take a boat trip to Murano to see glassblowing demonstrations and to Burano for its vibrant-coloured houses and lace-making tradition.
6. Peggy Guggenheim Collection – A fantastic collection of various artworks a must see for any art enthusiast. There was a temporary circle exhibition when I visited that was incredible.
7. Teatro La Fenice – Catch an opera or simply admire the stunning interior of one of Italy’s most prestigious theaters.
8. Libreria Acqua Alta – A quirky, must-see bookshop where books are stacked in gondolas and bathtubs to protect them from Venice’s flooding.
9. St Marks Campanile – One of my favourites and a must see head to the top for amazing panoramic views right out to the mountains.
10. Venice by night– End your day with a vaporetto (water bus) ride on the Grand Canal as the city lights up and the water reflects its magic.
